I searched around for a while when I came upon a session about copyrights. We have already looked at these but I still wanted to explore further. The session was Steal This Preso! Copyrights, Fair Use, and Pirates in the Classroom. I really don’t have to deal with this issue in my math class but it is a huge problem with our yearbook. What I am searching for is ways to get permissions. This was informative but didn’t really tell me much more than we did last week.
I kept searching. I searched for “math” and found Release the Hounds. This was a series of mp4 files discussing e-portfolios, parent involvement and student scribes. I perused many of the links on that page and on the other pages. I spent more than 2 hours reading. It seems like a perfect thing for me to do. I only give a homework completion grade. I don’t grade math homework. I have become intrigued with the idea of a math blog to document the year. There are recommendations that I plan to read more thoroughly. I originally came into this class wanting to create a series of Smart Board notebooks that have me describing steps to do things learned in class. Eventually, my goal is to have the students do this. Until I get tot hat point, I am going to require that each student be the scribe for two classes per quarter.

I followed your link to the Release the Hounds site. I also liked the idea of a math blog to document the year and plan to try it. Thanks for the tip!
